Dr. Rainier Urdaneta was born in a small town on the east coast of Venezuela. His father is a retired dentist who very much enjoyed his career, which is what initially motivated Dr. Urdaneta to pursue dentistry. Once he began practicing, he dealt with certain restoration cases that were challenging. This sparked his interest in dental implants, and he decided specializing in Prosthodontics would be the best fit to give him the training and skills he needed. In 1992, he emigrated from Venezuela to study Prosthodontics at Boston University. By 1996, he had fallen in love with the USA (and Massachusetts!). He earned his Advanced Standing DMD degree at Boston University in order to practice in the Commonwealth.
With 25 years of professional practice, Dr. Urdaneta's other areas of expertise include aesthetic and restorative dentistry, removable partial dentures, fixed crowns and bridges, and full mouth reconstructions. Having worked for 15 years at the Implant Dentistry Centre in Jamaica Plain, he has significant clinical experience in surgical placement and restoration of dental implants. Dr. Urdaneta has authored several published manuscripts in peer-reviewed dental journals, and lectures nationally and internationally.
Dr. Urdaneta is married with three beautiful daughters. He loves playing tennis with his girls - although he won't be able to beat them much longer! He also enjoys yoga, swimming, and water skiing on Merrymeeting Lake in New Hampshire.
Dr. Urdaneta is a current member of the American Dental Association, the American College of Prosthodontics, and the Hispanic Dental Association. He has worked as a Prosthodontist at the Harvard Faculty Practice, and as a faculty member at the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
